Soon the time will come….

Dear friend in the Dhamma,

Soon the time will come,

We will soon be able to make use of our new building extension
and officially move into the new premises.

If everything continues as planned,
this will already be possible in November.

First of all, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone
who, over the past weeks and months,
has contributed their time, their energy,
their skills and craftsmanship,
or financial support,
helping this project to grow step by step.

It is considered a great merit to create and support places
where people can devote themselves to meditation and the Dhamma.

May your giving – whether through financial support or through your actions – return to you many times over.

May you be supported and carried.

Where do we stand at the moment?

Progress has been a little slower over the past few months, but there has nevertheless been a steady stream of work to do.

Some of the tradespeople have completed their work, while others have carried out the necessary finishing touches.

Thomas, our carpenter, began building the kitchen after completing the flooring. The first kitchen units will be installed over the next few weeks.

We will also be installing the used kitchen unit that we were able to acquire through a local classified ads platform. It will be adapted and extended to serve as our new tea and washing-up area.

Fire Safety and Firefighting Water Supply

As previously reported, we are required to have 96 m³ of firefighting water available for the new building extension. The implementation took a little longer than expected, as the much more cost-effective tanks were not immediately available. We have now made a major step forward: the tanks have already been buried. This was also the last large excavation that had to be made for the extension.

Yesterday, the DIN-compliant connection for the fire brigade was installed. The excavated area can now be levelled again by the excavation company. The local fire brigade also supported us with some technical advice, which helped us find a good solution. There will even be a fire brigade exercise here soon, during which the tanks will be filled with firefighting water. Of course, we hope this will be the only occasion on which the fire brigade needs to come to us!

Once the kitchen as well as the firefighting water supply and fire safety measures have been completed, we will be able to use the extension. We hope to achieve this in November – so just a few weeks from now.

Over the past two weeks, Ronald and Robert, together with a few additional volunteers who joined us temporarily, have also built the south-facing terrace in front of the dining room. This was necessary so that the area in front of it can be restored as part of the final excavation and landscaping work.

What is still needed?

There are still a few remaining works and expenses that are necessary for us to put the new building extension into use and to make it available for meditation and community life. We are grateful for any financial support towards these next steps:

  • Completion of the kitchen: approx. €9,000
  • Final excavation and landscaping work for the firefighting water tanks: approx. €7,000
  • Completion of the sanitary facilities: approx. €3,500

In addition, the next delivery of wood pellets, costing €7,500, is due.

Would you like to contribute towards these next steps?

Every contribution is, as always, warmly welcomed and helps this place continue to grow as a space where many people can practise meditation and devote themselves to the Dhamma.
